Efforts to strengthen Indonesia's economic foundation no longer rely entirely on the government sector, but are beginning to involve strategic collaboration with the private sector. This tangible step is demonstrated by the Maybank Foundation and the ASEAN Foundation through the launch of the 'eMpowering Youths' program on July 6, 2026, which is specifically designed to accelerate progress in the field of education as well as the preservation of national cultural heritage.
Amid the challenges of a competitive job market and unemployment rates that remain a national challenge, this initiative comes with a dual focus. The first project focuses on accelerating digital literacy for the younger generation. By providing technical training and industry-relevant curricula, it is hoped to create a workforce that is more adaptive to global market needs, while narrowing the digital skills gap that is currently still quite wide.
In addition to the education sector, this program also targets the great potential of Indonesia's creative economy, which has not yet been optimally tapped. Through the second project, local artisans will receive special mentoring in terms of branding, access to e-commerce platforms, and connections to the regional ASEAN market. This strategy is expected to transform static traditional works into highly competitive commodities of high economic value.
The success of this initiative depends heavily on field execution and intensive collaboration with local governments and civil society. Furthermore, the aspects of transparency and objective impact measurement are key to ensuring that this program is not just a temporary philanthropic activity, but is able to make a sustainable contribution to long-term national economic growth.
