Public trust in political stability under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly experienced a significant decline. Based on the latest findings from the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey institute, the majority of the public now views the national political situation as being in a less conducive trend.
SMRC Executive Director Deni Irvani revealed that as many as 42.8 percent of respondents rated the country's current political condition as bad or very bad. This figure contrasts sharply with only 13.5 percent of respondents who gave a positive rating. This comparison shows that negative sentiment dominates by nearly three times compared to the public's optimistic view.
This decline in public perception did not happen suddenly, but rather through a consistent downward trend over the last three survey periods. In November 2025, the level of public optimism regarding political conditions was still at 35.8 percent. However, that figure shrank to 27.1 percent in March 2026, before finally plunging to a low of 13.5 percent in July 2026.
According to SMRC's analysis, the decline in satisfaction with the political situation is closely related to the public's perception of the economic condition, which is deemed to be weakening. Consequently, this dissatisfaction in the economic sector also has a cascading effect on public assessment of the government's overall performance.
This poll was conducted between July 5 and 19, 2026, involving 749 randomly selected respondents across Indonesia. The data collection method was conducted through a combination of telephone and face-to-face interviews, with the survey's margin of error estimated at approximately plus or minus 3.7 percent.
