The Netherlands women's national 3x3 basketball team successfully secured the champion title in the prestigious FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Batam 2026 tournament. In the final match held at Engku Putri Square, Batam, Riau Islands, the Dutch squad put on a dominant display, defeating the Chinese national team with a striking score of 22-9.
This brilliant victory in Batam marks the second title won by the Netherlands this season. The additional points from this tournament are crucial for the Netherlands to secure their spot in the upcoming FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai 2026 final.
Throughout the tournament, the Netherlands demonstrated absolute dominance by sweeping all five matches without a single defeat. Their defensive resilience and offensive effectiveness were evident from the performance statistics, where the Netherlands successfully scored a total of 98 points while conceding only 40 points to their opponents.
In the final match, high tension was felt early on as both teams were tied at 3-3. However, the Netherlands gradually dominated the game after taking a narrow 6-5 lead, until a decisive shot from Noortje Driessen sealed an absolute 22-9 victory over China.
Netherlands star player, Evelien Lutje Schipholt, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) after becoming the top scorer with 39 points and recording a game efficiency of 40.5. Meanwhile, China had to settle for runner-up after a grueling battle in the knockout stages against Beijing and Thailand. Next, the tournament series will head to Tokyo, Japan, in early August.
