The Gunung Mas Regency Government, Central Kalimantan, has confirmed it will facilitate a public screening (nobar) of the 2026 World Cup final. This highly anticipated event for football fans is planned to be centered at Kuala Kurun City Park.

Gunung Mas Regent, Jaya S. Monong, revealed that this screening event is being held as a concrete step to follow up on the directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). Through this instruction, local governments are expected to provide an inclusive public space to celebrate the pinnacle of the world's biggest football tournament.

To ensure the event's success, the Regent has instructed the Gunung Mas Regency Department of Education, Youth, and Sports (Disdikpora) to finalize technical preparations on-site. The final match is scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, at 02:00 WIB, while residents can start gathering at the park area starting at 01:30 WIB.

In addition to serving as mass entertainment, this screening momentum is expected to deliver a significant economic impact for the region. In line with the directives of Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian, the crowds generated by this football event have the potential to revitalize micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), such as culinary vendors and sports paraphernalia sellers.

The 2026 World Cup competition has now entered a crucial phase, leaving four formidable teams in the semifinals: France, Spain, England, and Argentina. Interestingly, during the occasion, Regent Jaya S. Monong jokingly shared his personal prediction, rooting for the Argentine squad to defend their world championship title.
