The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to strengthen the inclusive education ecosystem in Indonesia. One of its concrete steps is equipping Special Education School (SLB) teachers with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills to boost the independence of students with special needs in welcoming the digital era.

This commitment is realized through the SLB Teacher Competency Improvement Program in ICT Skills initiated by the Directorate of Secondary Education and Special Education Teachers (PMPK). The event, which took place in Bogor on July 14–17, 2026, aims to optimize the role of educators as engines of digital transformation in their respective school environments.

Special Staff to the Minister for Inclusive Education and Equity in Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) Regions, Rita Pranawati, emphasized that the dedication of SLB teachers is of very high value. She hopes this training will not only improve technical skills but also breed agents of change capable of creating learning innovations that are friendly to children with special needs.

In addition to technology training, this program also served as the launch event for Lalubi (Lapak Luar Biasa). This digital platform is projected as a national appreciation space to showcase and market the work of SLB students from various corners of the country, so that their potential can be more widely recognized by the general public.

Director of PMPK Teachers, Arif Jamali, explained that Lalubi is not just a buying and selling transaction medium, but a space of recognition for the talent and creativity of students with special needs. This step is expected to boost the self-confidence of these special children to continue creating.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Learning, Welfare, and Awards Work Team of the Directorate of PMPK Teachers, Ahmad Budidarma, explained that this program generated high enthusiasm with registrations from 855 teachers. After a rigorous online selection process, the 30 best teachers from various regions were selected, including border areas such as Morotai Island in North Maluku, and involving teachers with disabilities to ensure the principle of equality.
