Andalas University (UNAND) continues to realize its commitment to internationalizing education through the participation of five students from the Faculty of Engineering in the EQUITY International Student Exchange (Outbound) Program. From July 1 to 14, 2026, these delegates studied at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) to enrich both their academic and practical insights at a global level.

The delegates selected for this program consist of Haykal Aqsara from Electrical Engineering, as well as Tajri Syayidil Qalbi, Muhammad Nabil Surya Andyka, and Rifki Afan from Mechanical Engineering, accompanied by Muhammad Fajar Ramadhan from Civil Engineering. Their participation is the result of full support from the leadership of the UNAND Faculty of Engineering, including Dean Prof. Is Prima Nanda, as a strategic step to accelerate student competence.

During their time at UTeM, the students were intensively involved in a series of activities at the Teaching Factory. They received comprehensive training ranging from digital design and laser cutting techniques to 3D printing operation. Not only that, but the training's main focus also included Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology, where participants learned to assemble industrial drones, perform autonomous mapping techniques, and operate UAV platforms for modern industrial sector needs.

The Dean of the UNAND Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Is Prima Nanda, emphasized that this experience is crucial to equipping graduates to adapt to an international-scale work environment. According to him, direct interaction with foreign academics and students will hone collaboration skills as well as understanding of the latest technological practices applied in internationally reputable universities.

This program is not merely an academic exchange, but a concrete effort to support the achievement of the university's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in quality education and global partnerships. All these activities were carried out thanks to funding support from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) through a program managed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
