The Faculty of Engineering (FT) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) dispatched 45 students from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program to participate in a joint research program at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). This strategic step was taken as a concrete effort to hone students' competencies in green technology, which has now become a global trend.
The main focus of this international collaboration includes the development of renewable energy as well as in-depth research on natural fiber composites. During the program, students will interact directly with international researchers and utilize modern laboratory facilities to produce material innovations that are more environmentally friendly than conventional synthetic materials.
Vice Dean for Business, Research, and Cooperation at FT UNNES, Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., emphasized that this participation is not merely an academic visit. He encourages students to produce innovative and reputable research outputs that can directly contribute to global energy transition efforts and sustainable material development.
More than just a research experience, this activity embodies the institution's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative aligns with SDG 4 on quality education, SDG 7 on affordable and clean energy access, and SDG 12 on responsible consumption and production.
Through this international experience, FT UNNES hopes to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also adaptive to the challenges of the future green industry. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for broader research partnerships between UNNES and partner universities abroad.
