The Padang City Junior High School English Subject Teacher Forum (MGMP) officially began its odd semester work program for the 2026/2027 academic year by holding a special workshop at the SMP Negeri 25 Padang Hall. This strategic step was taken to strengthen the competency of educators in facing learning challenges in the digital era.
Representing the Head of the Padang City Education and Culture Department (Disdikbud), Head of the Curriculum Section Junaidi officially opened the event. In his briefing, Junaidi emphasized the importance of sustainable educational transformation through consistent teacher capacity building, while also supporting the realization of the "Padang Juara" flagship program.
According to Junaidi, educators today are required to adapt to the latest technological developments, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). The integration of AI in the classroom is expected to create a more effective, creative, and meaningful learning atmosphere for students, while opening up opportunities for them to compete on the international stage.
The workshop, themed "Empowering English Teachers Through Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Innovative Learning", focused on preparing modern learning tools. Under the guidance of the Chairman of the Padang City Junior High School English MGMP, Deka Mardeka Putra, teachers were trained to finalize teaching and learning planning documents based on AI.
Deka explained that this training is designed to enable teachers to skillfully utilize AI in designing teaching modules, assessment instruments, and interactive learning media. Through this collaborative approach, MGMP is committed to nurturing a smart, competent, and globally competitive younger generation.
