Jakarta now has a new destination for Korean popular culture enthusiasts with the presence of Weplay Universe. Located at Central Park Mall 2, West Jakarta, this entertainment hub features an interactive concept that blends advanced technology, music, and creative spaces into a single ecosystem directly inspired by trends in South Korea.
The arrival of this entertainment center is a response to the high enthusiasm of the Indonesian public for Korean culture, which is known as one of the largest fan communities in the world. Weplay Universe is designed not just as a place of entertainment, but as a platform for the younger generation to socialize, channel their hobbies, and create aesthetic digital content.
One of the key features offered is DanSnap, a professional dance recording technology brought directly from Seoul. This device allows visitors to record their dance performances in studio quality, complete with integrated lighting and camera setups. The system has also been adapted to local market tastes by including a lineup of songs that are viral on social media.
CEO of DanSnap Korea, Johee Son, stated that this technology was intentionally introduced to make dance cover activities more accessible and fun for everyone. The management hopes this facility can provide an experience on par with what fans experience in South Korea.
More than just a recording facility, Weplay Universe is planned to become an epicenter for the country's creative community. Various events, ranging from dance competitions and community gatherings to collaborations with content creators, are projected to be held regularly to strengthen the K-Entertainment ecosystem in Indonesia.
This collaborative project between the Indonesian and Korean teams is not targeted to stop in Jakarta. The management revealed strategic plans to expand the reach of Weplay Universe to various other major cities in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region, following the rapid growth of interest in Korean cultural trends in the area.
