A proud achievement was recorded by Athifah Inuhfa, a grade VI.B student at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 8 Bone. She successfully demonstrated a never-give-up spirit by conquering the summit of Mount Rinjani on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, at an altitude of 3,726 meters above sea level (masl).
The expedition, which took place on July 9–11, 2026, followed the climbing route via Sembalun Village. For three days and two nights, Athifah had to overcome various natural challenges, ranging from steep rocky terrain to extreme cold temperatures during the summit attack.
This success was not instant. Athifah had previously undergone an intensive physical training program for two months under the guidance of physical education teacher, Muhammad Marjan. Thorough preparation, supported by professional guides, proved to be the key for this student to reach one of the highest peaks in Indonesia.
Responding to her student's success, the Head of MIN 8 Bone, Hj. Harnidah, expressed high appreciation. She emphasized that the climb was a real form of character education. "This is not just about reaching the summit, but a process of building discipline, courage, responsibility, and a love for nature," Harnidah said.
Athifah herself revealed that the journey provided deep life lessons. She experienced extreme fatigue, but her teacher's message to keep moving slowly but surely motivated her until she reached the highest point. Now, she will share this experience with her peers at the madrasah as an inspiration to dare to dream and work hard to achieve their goals.
