The West Java Provincial Government, through the Health Agency (Dinkes), is committed to accelerating the Free Health Check (CKG) program by setting a public participation target of 100 percent by 2026. This ambitious step was taken following the previous year's success in exceeding the central government's target, reaching 22 percent compared to the initial 20 percent goal.
Head of the West Java Health Agency, Vini Adiani Dewi, emphasized that although the central government set a national target of 46 percent, her agency chose to be more progressive. This instruction has been conveyed to all city and regency government administrations to prioritize a preventive approach when providing health services to the public.
The main focus of this program is to optimize early detection of various non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Vini reminded that many dangerous diseases, especially hypertension—often dubbed the 'silent killer'—are frequently ignored by the public until serious complications like strokes arise.
To achieve this target, the West Java Health Agency stated its readiness to facilitate communities or civic groups wishing to undergo screenings. Additionally, the public is encouraged to proactively visit the nearest Community Health Center (Puskesmas) independently to access this free service.
Vini highlighted the importance of taking advantage of this program, as out-of-pocket costs for similar independent examinations can reach millions of rupiah. With maximum early detection, it is hoped that morbidity and mortality rates in West Java can be reduced, while also easing future healthcare funding burdens.
