The Mojokerto City Government has successfully transformed the Gunung Gedangan Rest Area into a multifunctional public space that is now bustling with visitors. The transit area has now morphed into a dynamic hub for creative economy, art, and entertainment activities.
The Head of the Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade Office (Diskopukmperindag) of Mojokerto City, Amin Wachid, explained that this move is a local government strategy to optimize regional assets. The goal is to provide a tangible economic impact for local residents by actively involving MSME players and local art communities.
On the second floor area, this zone is specifically utilized as an MSME center and art market. In this location, visitors can find various signature products of Mojokerto, ranging from traditional culinary delights and creative handicrafts to paintings of high aesthetic value.
To attract visitors, the management also presents live music entertainment held regularly every Wednesday. The presence of this music performance has proven effective in increasing visitor numbers, which directly has a positive impact on boosting the daily turnover of local vendors.
Amin emphasized that the city government is committed to continuously evaluating and improving the supporting facilities in the area to ensure visitors' comfort. Through this structuring program, the Gunung Gedangan Rest Area is expected to grow into a new, independent icon of Mojokerto City, as well as a driving force for the people's economy.
