The Tasikmalaya City Government initiated a concrete step in combining the sports, tourism, and environmental preservation sectors through the Tasik GEMAS (Healthy Society, Beautiful Indonesia Movement) movement. Centered in the Situ Gede tourist area on Friday (31/7/2026), this campaign themed Sport Tourism for Zero Waste Movement aims to educate the public to exercise actively while keeping public spaces clean.

The event, themed "Moving Together to Realize a Clean and Sustainable Tasikmalaya City," was attended directly by the Mayor of Tasikmalaya, regional officials, Forkopimda, as well as various sports communities and elements of the local society. In addition to exercising together, the participants also took real action to clean the tourist area to campaign for the importance of maintaining the beauty of local destinations.

The Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan, emphasized that the Situ Gede area has extraordinary potential to be developed as a sports tourism (sport tourism) icon. However, he stressed that the success of this program depends heavily on cross-sector collaboration as well as the active awareness of the community in preserving the ecosystem and natural beauty of the surrounding environment.

Through this movement, the Tasikmalaya City Government hopes to create a new culture where sports are not only a health trend but also a means to foster ecological awareness for reducing and managing waste wisely. This synergy is expected to strengthen Tasikmalaya City's reputation as a healthy, green area with sustainable tourism appeal.
