Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data are no longer just supporting tools; instead, they must be positioned as the basic infrastructure of the economy. This view was expressed by Associate Professor Dr. Luu Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of AI Models and Platforms at VinSmart Future Company, during the National Conference evaluating the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science and technology development and digital transformation.
According to Dr. Tuan, the integration of AI and data is an absolute prerequisite for renewing the national growth model. He likened data to a strategic raw material, while AI serves as the processing engine capable of generating high-value knowledge, operational efficiency, and competitive commercial product innovations in the global market.
To address these challenges, six strategic steps have been proposed to strengthen the national digital ecosystem. First, the establishment of standardized AI data infrastructure. Second, the development of independent AI platforms to reduce reliance on foreign technology. Third, the provision of affordable cloud-based computing infrastructure accessible to both universities and industry players.
In addition to technical aspects, institutional reform is the crucial fourth point, where the government is advised to promptly implement an "AI Sandbox" legal framework that supports innovation. The fifth point focuses on human resource development through a national strategy capable of attracting top technology talent.
Finally, Dr. Tuan emphasized the importance of commercializing local AI products on the international stage. He stated that the public sector must be the 'first customer' for domestic technological innovations to provide validation before these products expand into the global market. This step is believed to be a catalyst for sustainable economic growth toward the vision of a developed country by 2045.
