The government's move to accelerate the development of the national hydrogen ecosystem received full support from the parliament. Member of Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Golkar Party Faction, Jamaludin Malik, emphasized that this megaproject must be an important momentum for Indonesia to master technology and produce competitive human resources (HR) in the future energy sector.
Jamaludin highlighted the development plan for 93 hydrogen projects with an investment potential reaching Rp32 trillion. According to the legislator representing the Central Java II constituency, this fantastic investment value must deliver a real impact in the form of technology transfer, increasing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), and creating widespread employment opportunities for local communities.
He also expressed appreciation for the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia in driving this green energy transition. Cross-sector cooperation is considered crucial so that Indonesia does not merely become a consumer market for foreign technology.
Indonesia itself possesses significant assets in the form of abundant new and renewable energy (EBT) potential, ranging from geothermal in Java and Sumatra to hydropower in Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Jamaludin encouraged strong synergy between the government, the business world, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and educational institutions to prepare the supporting infrastructure and relevant vocational curricula.
As a government partner, Commission XII of the DPR RI is committed to monitoring this strategic project to ensure it does not deviate from the vision of energy independence. Jamaludin emphasized that the benchmark for the success of the hydrogen ecosystem is not only the investment value, but also the emergence of local innovation and long-term national energy security.
