The Mimika Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), through Commission IV, has officially urged the Mimika Regency Government (Pemkab) to establish sports events and art festivals as regular regional agendas. This step is deemed crucial to continuously facilitate public creativity and promote a healthy lifestyle in the region.

The urge arose after witnessing the high level of public enthusiasm in ensuring the success of the 2026 Sunset Run & Art Festival, initiated by the Mimika Population and Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil) on Saturday (1/8/2026). The event, held to welcome the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, was considered successful in combining public services with educational entertainment.

Chairman of Commission IV of the Mimika DPRK, Elinus Balinol Mom, emphasized the importance of consistency from every Regional Government Organization (OPD) in designing work programs that have a direct impact on citizens' welfare. According to him, collaborative programs like this not only provide a space of expression for the younger generation but are also effective in educating the public about the importance of maintaining physical fitness.

Similar appreciation came from Darwin Kurnia Rombe, a member of Commission IV of the Mimika DPRK. He praised the breakthrough of the Mimika Disdukcapil, which succeeded in integrating administrative services with sports activities and art stages. Darwin hopes this success will serve as a spark for other government agencies in Mimika to synergize and host similar events sustainably.
