Renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has officially introduced the Desmo450 EDS to the global market. This model marks the company's strategic move into the mass-production enduro motorcycle segment for the first time, while bringing Borgo Panigale's racing technology heritage to extreme off-road terrain.
As a pioneer, Ducati equips the Desmo450 EDS with a 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine featuring the Desmodromic valve system. This signature Ducati innovation is claimed to generate an impressive torque curve from low to mid RPMs, while maintaining power stability when revved high, offering flexibility for both professional and amateur riders.
The development of this motorcycle was not done in isolation, but involved direct input from enduro world champion Antoine Meo. Based on the Desmo450 MX motocross model, it has been tailored to the demands of rugged terrain, including 49 mm Showa upside-down suspension and high-performance braking from Brembo with Galfer discs.
One of the main highlights offered is the integration of an advanced electronics package, namely the latest generation Ducati Traction Control (DTC). This system operates in real time to adjust rear wheel traction, even when airborne, ensuring precise control across various track conditions.
Beyond mechanical performance, Ducati also introduced an adaptive maintenance system via the Ducati X-Link app. This technology allows motorcycle owners to monitor engine wear based on real-world riding style and usage conditions, enabling automatic service scheduling without relying on fixed time intervals to maintain peak performance.
