The North Kuta Police Sector (Polsek) has taken preventive measures by tightening security around nightlife areas. This step focuses on vulnerable times, particularly when visitors begin to disperse towards dawn, to anticipate potential disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas).
Led by the Supervising Officer (Pawas) Police Inspector First Class (Iptu) I Gede Artawan, this intensive patrol targets crucial spots deemed prone to crime. The security concentration areas include parking facilities, nightlife venue exits, and the main routes connecting the Canggu, Kerobokan, and Dalung areas.
North Kuta Police Chief, Police Commissioner (Kompol) I Ketut Sukadana, explained that the increased intensity of these patrols aims to restrict the movement of criminals. According to him, the early morning hours when visitors return home are vulnerable to street crimes, such as purse snatching, motor vehicle theft (curanmor), and thuggery.
During operations, officers on the ground do not only conduct static patrols, but also actively engage in dialogue with internal security personnel at the venues, traditional Balinese security officers (pecalang), and local vendors. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the community-based security system in the tourism environment.
In addition to deploying two-wheeled and four-wheeled patrol fleets at busy intersections, the police urge tourists to always remain vigilant about their personal belongings and ensure their vehicles are securely parked. These continuous efforts are expected to maintain the image of the North Kuta jurisdiction as a safe and conducive tourist destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.
