Marc Marquez once again proved his prowess as the king of the Sachsenring track by clinching pole position in the qualifying session for the 2026 German MotoGP on Saturday (11/7/2026). The star Ducati rider put on an impressive display, clocking a time of 1 minute 19.041 seconds, which also set a new lap record at the technical circuit.
Marquez's success was heavily down to the execution of a well-planned strategy. He chose to make two pit stops during the 15-minute Q2 session, a crucial decision that allowed him to maintain peak performance at the decisive moment. This result marks Marquez's third pole position of the season.
Second place on the grid was secured by his younger brother, Alex Marquez, who put up a competitive performance, trailing by a very narrow margin of just 0.061 seconds. Meanwhile, Fabio Di Giannantonio completed Ducati's front-row dominance by clocking a time that placed him third, only 0.147 seconds behind the reigning world champion's time.
On the other hand, Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Racing emerged as the strongest challenger from the Aprilia camp. After briefly topping the qualifying session before being displaced in the final minutes, Fernandez managed to secure fourth place. The fierce competition at the front of the grid is expected to deliver an intense race in tomorrow's main event, given the tight margins between the top qualifiers.
