Mayor of Medan, Rico Waas, emphasized the importance of integrating positive sports values into community life to support the development of Medan City. The invitation was conveyed while attending the closing of the Padel tournament titled “Padel For All” held at 59 Padel Hub, Jalan Mangonsidi, on Sunday (12/7/2026).
The tournament, initiated by Beyond Sport Profesional 061, is part of the celebrations for Medan City's 436th Anniversary. Over its three-day run, the event successfully drew high public interest, featuring a total of 135 pairs or around 270 amateur athletes.
On that occasion, Rico Waas expressed deep appreciation for the committee's dedication and the enthusiasm of the participants. According to him, sports serve as an effective social instrument to break down barriers of age and professional background. Through healthy competition, he believes values of discipline and cooperation can take firm root among residents.
Furthermore, the Mayor emphasized that the physical health of the public is a key asset for regional progress. With a fit and productive populace, the government is optimistic about accelerating the vision of making Medan a more inclusive, advanced, and sustainable city.
Chairman of Beyond Sport Profesional 061, Saif Adli Heer, shared a similar hope. His team is committed to continuing to provide positive activities capable of bridging synergy between the younger generation and local government. Beyond being a competitive event, the tournament is expected to serve as a momentum to strengthen brotherhood among Medan residents.
