Jakarta — The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI) held a strategic meeting to strengthen the position of cyber media across the country in responding to national and global political dynamics. This step was taken as an effort to ensure that media owners and managers do not merely become spectators in the rapidly growing flow of information.
General Chairman of SMSI, Firdaus, along with Secretary General Makali Kumar, directly led the session on mapping political influence networks at the Central SMSI Secretariat office in Jakarta. On that occasion, Firdaus thoroughly dissected the connection between global geopolitics and the direction of policies and news trends in Indonesia.
Firdaus emphasized that as a national-scale cyber media organization, regional SMSI members must possess sharp analytical sensitivity. He hopes every official can deliver healthy, objective, and trustworthy information as a form of press responsibility in safeguarding the interests of the wider public.
Furthermore, the importance of maintaining independence and professionalism amidst an increasingly dynamic media landscape was emphasized. The strategic mapping conducted is expected to serve as a compass for thousands of cyber media outlets affiliated with SMSI, keeping them solid and adaptive to the challenges of the times without losing journalistic integrity.
The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion session formulating tactical steps for officials at the provincial down to regency/city levels. It is hoped that voices from the regions will resonate more strongly on the national stage while reinforcing the dignity of the press as a pillar of democracy with integrity.
