The rapid development of Labuan Bajo as one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) is deemed to must go hand in hand with improving the quality of life of the local community. Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ranny Fahd Arafiq, emphasized the importance of strengthening the healthcare service sector, labor protection, and human resources (HR) development in the region.
During a working visit to the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Vocational Training Center (BLK) in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Ranny highlighted the vital role of Komodo Regional General Hospital (RSUD). This hospital not only bears the responsibility as a medical referral center for local residents but also serves as the front line in emergency handling for travelers. Therefore, concrete support from the central government is urgent to address the shortage of specialist doctors and the availability of modern medical equipment there.
Furthermore, the lawmaker from the Golkar Party Faction warned that massive tourism economic growth must not ignore the aspect of social welfare. She emphasized the need to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in NTT, as well as a stronger social security system for informal workers and migrant workers from the archipelagic region.
Through the legislative, oversight, and budgeting functions of Commission IX of the DPR RI, Ranny is committed to bridging solutions to administrative constraints and local budget limitations. Collaborative steps between the central and regional governments are expected to bring about equal distribution of healthcare services and equitable social security in East Nusa Tenggara.
