The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Gunung Mas Regency urges the Regency Government to take strategic steps in coordinating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs from the private sector. This step is seen as crucial so that corporate contributions—whether in plantations, mining, or forestry—can have a more significant and measurable impact on local communities.
Gunung Mas Regency DPRD member, Hermanto, emphasized that the potential for CSR in his region is immense. However, up until now, implementation has tended to run independently without an integrated pattern. According to the NasDem Party politician, synchronization between corporate programs and the regional government's development agenda is key to optimizing social benefits.
"The implementation of CSR must be carefully planned and aligned with government priorities. With strong coordination from the regional government, the aid distributed will not overlap, but rather complement truly urgent development needs," Hermanto said on Tuesday (7/7).
Furthermore, Hermanto added that companies have moral and legal responsibilities to contribute to their operating environments. He hopes the local government can play an active role as a facilitator and coordinator, allowing CSR instruments to act as a catalyst in accelerating equitable development and improving the overall welfare of the community in Gunung Mas Regency.
