The case involving Bripka RA, a rogue member of the Maluku Regional Police Polairud stationed in Banda District, Central Maluku Regency, has once again come into the public spotlight. He is suspected of being involved in monopolistic practices in the fishery business as well as committing moral misconduct that has caused unrest among the local community.
To date, Bripka RA has not received any disciplinary sanctions from his institution, despite various parties raising concerns. This is despite the Maluku Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Prof. Dr. Dadang Hartanto, previously asserting that any member of the National Police who commits disgraceful acts, such as polygamy or moral misconduct, will face strict legal consequences.
Regarding the alleged monopoly of the fishery business, Bripka RA previously clarified that the fish storage business does not belong to him personally, but is owned by his family, whom he helps manage. However, attempts to confirm the allegations that he got a local girl in Banda pregnant have so far received no official response from him.
Public policy observer Herman Siamiloy urged the police to be transparent in handling this case. According to him, although National Police members are allowed to have side businesses, business activities that have the potential to monopolize the market and harm the wider community must still be prosecuted in accordance with the professional code of ethics.
Siamiloy also emphasized that the alleged moral misconduct committed by the married officer is a serious violation that breaches the National Police's internal regulations regarding the ban on polygamy. He questioned the transparency of law enforcement within the Maluku Regional Police, noting the lack of an official statement regarding the follow-up legal process against the officer, which has sparked public speculation about special treatment for Bripka RA.
