The case of alleged physical violence involving a student at a nightspot in the West Surabaya area has officially entered the legal realm. The victim reportedly suffered serious injuries and severe trauma after being assaulted by a group of people in the early hours of Saturday (15/7), and is currently still undergoing intensive care at a hospital.
The victim's attorney, Matthew Jerem, revealed that the incident began when the victim and his friends visited the Super House nightclub around 22:00 WIB. Tensions began to rise around 02:00 WIB when the victim, on his way to the restroom, accidentally bumped into a teenage patron at the venue. Although the victim immediately apologized, a misunderstanding was seemingly unavoidable.
Shortly after returning from the restroom, the victim fell near the teenager's table area and apologized again. Nevertheless, the victim was then approached by the teenager and a friend with the initials RG. Without warning, RG allegedly punched the victim directly in the solar plexus. The situation escalated further, despite the victim's attempts to defuse the tension.
Regrettably, when two local security guards arrived at the scene, instead of breaking up the altercation, they allegedly held the victim's body. With his movements restricted, the victim became an easy target, receiving repeated blows to his face and eyes from the main perpetrator, RG, and another man with the initials JJ.
After the violence subsided, the victim was evacuated to a separate room while the perpetrators were allowed to leave the premises. Upon arriving home, the victim complained of shortness of breath, severe dizziness, and body aches to the point of being unable to stand. As his condition continued to deteriorate, his family eventually rushed him to the National Hospital for medical treatment.
The victim's mother, Fani Agustin, has officially reported the harrowing incident to the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim). She demands justice, calling for all perpetrators, including the security management deemed negligent or even complicit in the assault, to face legal processing. The police are reportedly currently investigating the case by interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
