Jakarta once again witnessed the integration of digital technology and sportsmanship through the HGI Pesta Bola 2026 event held at fX Sudirman on Sunday (12/7). Higgs Games Island (HGI), a community-based digital strategy gaming platform, presented world football legend Luís Figo to motivate the younger generation in Indonesia to sharpen their tactical skills and decision-making abilities.
The presence of the 2000 Ballon d'Or winner was more than just ceremonial. HGI representative Ray emphasized that Figo's playing philosophy on the pitch—which relies on strategic intelligence—is highly relevant to the development of mind sports currently being popularized by HGI through digital media.
"We see a strong overlap between tactical sharpness in football and the inner workings of mind sports. Figo is a perfect representation of how dedication and a strategic mindset can lead someone to the pinnacle of achievement," said Ray on the sidelines of the event, which was also supported by the National Indonesian Community Sports Commission (KORMINAS).
On this occasion, HGI reaffirmed its commitment to building a more inclusive ecosystem. Beyond focusing on the competitive aspect, the company also stressed the importance of integrity, transparency, and consumer protection. This synergy involves various stakeholders, including the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of DKI Jakarta and several student communities, to ensure the development of mind sports aligns with cultural values and prevailing regulations.
Furthermore, HGI strives to elevate traditional games, such as dominoes, into competitively recognized mind sports disciplines. This initiative began with a series of national-scale tournaments, such as the HGI City Cup 2026, successfully held in Makassar, Surabaya, and Jakarta. This success is expected to transform the stigma around traditional games into modern, globally competitive digital sports assets.
