The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government has demonstrated a tangible commitment to improving public welfare through the launch of the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) and Free Health Checkup (CKG) services. The program was officially inaugurated directly by the Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, at H.M. Sanusi Stadium, Pulang Pisau, on Saturday (11/7/2026), as part of the 24th Anniversary celebrations of Pulang Pisau Regency.
Governor Agustiar explained that the primary target of this food subsidy program is focused on vulnerable community groups, ranging from temporary workers, laborers, fishermen, to farmers. This step was taken in an effort to reduce the economic burden on the community amidst fluctuating basic commodity prices, while emphasizing that regional budget efficiency must not hinder the government from delivering programs with direct impacts on the people.
In his speech, the number one figure in Central Kalimantan emphasized the principle of equitable development. He asserted that public services must not be centered solely in the provincial capital, but must be felt equally by all residents in every corner of the regencies, including Pulang Pisau. As a supporting instrument, he introduced the Prosperous Huma Betang Card (KHBS), which integrates ID-card-based health service access, educational aid, and social assistance.
The education sector and food security were also serious focal points during the celebration. Vice Governor Edy Pratowo added that there are around 10,000 potential KHBS beneficiaries in Pulang Pisau. In addition, the government is rolling out a free agricultural vocational program for 1,000 participants, who will later be prepared as a 'Food Brigade' to strengthen regional food independence.
The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government hopes that the synergy between the government and the community will continue to be maintained. Governor Agustiar invited all regional elements to continue providing constructive feedback in guarding development so that Central Kalimantan can grow into a more advanced, prosperous, and dignified region.
