Indonesia is now solidifying its position as a strategic meeting point for the global search and rescue community through the Indonesia International Search and Rescue (IISAR) 2026 event. Held at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), Tangerang, since Thursday (9/7/2026), this event serves as a crucial platform for experts to formulate future disaster management strategies.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, emphasized that the urgency of national preparedness is increasingly pressing given Indonesia's position in the 'Ring of Fire' and the tangible impacts of climate change. According to him, the synergy between cutting-edge technology and human resource capacity must be enhanced to cut response times in every rescue mission.
Head of Basarnas, Mohammad Syafii, explained that IISAR 2026 is a concrete implementation of Law Number 29 of 2014. By involving 28 countries, this forum is expected to build a more effective network of communication and coordination among humanitarian agencies, both nationally and internationally.
In addition to strategic discussions, the event also showcases the latest technological innovations across 57 exhibition booths. Renowned companies such as PT Dirgantara Indonesia and Bell Helicopter exhibited advanced equipment, ranging from emergency communication technology to underwater rescue instruments, attracting thousands of visitors on the first day.
Founder of IISAR 2026, Candra Tri Saktiyanto, hopes this event can change public perception regarding the vital role of the Search and Rescue industry in supporting daily public safety. He emphasized that humanitarian missions transcend national territorial borders for one main goal, which is saving lives.
