The Rainwater Harvesting System Installation (ISLAH) technology launched in 2025 has now come into the spotlight as a strategic solution to meet clean water needs at the household level. This innovation is designed to allow communities to utilize rainwater optimally, which not only enhances water independence but also reduces household operational costs from paid water usage.
Founder of the Banyu Bening Community, Sri Wayuningsih, emphasized that the implementation of infiltration well technology and the ISLAH system is a crucial step in mitigating the water crisis. According to her, well-managed rainwater utilization is proven safe for both consumption and daily domestic needs, while serving as a collective effort to maintain the sustainability of soil ecosystems.
Furthermore, the success of this system depends heavily on changes in community behavior regarding environmental management. Beyond relying on technical infrastructure, residents are urged to help maintain groundwater quality by minimizing plastic use and actively planting trees in their residential areas. These preventive measures aim to provide space for water to naturally infiltrate back into the ground.
Collective awareness to avoid adding to the earth's pollution burden forms the primary foundation for the long term. By integrating the ISLAH system into daily lifestyles, it is hoped that sustainable water security will be achieved, ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy clean and healthy water resources.
