The implementation of the new health insurance policy, effective July 1, brings a breath of fresh air to the public, particularly in easing the financial burden of accessing medical services. This strategic step includes expanding reimbursement coverage for patients receiving treatment outside designated healthcare facilities, as well as adjusting co-payment limits.
One crucial point of this regulation is the provision of a 50% reimbursement for insurance participants accessing outpatient services at primary care facilities or certain specialized facilities. This policy is deemed highly helpful for patients who previously had to bear the full cost of treatment at hospitals outside their domicile or designated referral networks.
Additionally, the government has also eliminated the co-payment burden for patients with total examination or treatment costs under 379,500 VND. While patients previously had to cover a portion of these costs, the entire bill will now be fully covered by the Health Insurance Fund. This adjustment is predicted to be a significant solution for retirees and individuals who undergo routine medical check-ups.
On the other hand, the readiness of healthcare facilities is also being enhanced to support this policy. Hospitals like Thanh Nhan Hospital have undergone digital transformation and system integration with the national insurance payment platform to ensure automated and accurate benefit identification. This step aims to anticipate an expected 30% to 35% increase in out-of-network patients.
Health experts view this policy reform as a major leap forward in the national social security system. With easier access and stronger financial protection, the public is expected to have greater freedom in obtaining quality healthcare services without being hindered by complex administrative procedures or suffocating costs.
