The cultural spirit flared up once again on the slopes of Mount Merbabu, specifically in Warangan Village, Pakis District, Magelang Regency. On Sunday (12/7/2026), artists who are part of the Five Mountains Community held the 25th Five Mountains Festival (FLG), an arts event that serves as a routine agenda to strengthen the traditional bonds of mountain communities.

This festival involves farmer-artists from five iconic mountain areas in Central Java: Merapi, Merbabu, Menoreh, Andong, and Sumbing. The cultural parade performed reflects the richness of local arts that remain authentic amidst modernization.

One key characteristic and main attraction of this event is the principle of self-reliance firmly upheld by the organizers. The entire festival series is independently self-funded without third-party sponsors, with all event preparations and execution carried out through the spirit of mutual cooperation among community members.

The dedication shown by the Five Mountains Community highlights that the sustainability of cultural arts does not always depend on large funding, but rather on collective consistency and the community's love for their local wisdom.
