SEOUL - The city of Daejeon in South Korea has been officially selected as the host for the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for military veterans, in 2029. This confirmation was delivered directly by South Korea's Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Kang Yun-jin, during a policy briefing at the Seoul Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
In the meeting with foreign journalists, Kang Yun-jin explained the reasons behind Daejeon's selection and the positive impact expected for the country. Hosting the event is seen not only as a way to honor veterans' service but also to strengthen South Korea's position on the global sports stage, particularly in promoting social rehabilitation for soldiers wounded in the line of duty.
The Invictus Games itself is an international multi-sport adaptive event established to support the recovery of military personnel and veterans who have suffered injuries or illnesses during their service. The selection of Daejeon is expected to bring a new spirit to veteran athletes around the world.
