Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, emphasized that the key to Indonesia's progress lies in the quality of human resources. Speaking at a public lecture at Diklat Pratama DPP GMPK in Bogor Regency on Friday (3/7/2026), he stressed that mastering technology must be accompanied by a solid foundation of character so that university graduates can compete on the global stage.
Brian highlighted the importance of universities' role in aligning curricula with national strategic agendas, such as industrial downstreaming, food security, and digital transformation. He encouraged students to master STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to drive applicable innovations relevant to current industry needs.
Regarding the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), the Minister reminded that technology should be utilized as a learning tool, not a replacement for critical thinking skills. According to him, a deep understanding of fundamental scientific concepts remains a vital instrument for students to continually adapt to dynamic technological changes.
In addition to technical skills, character building also received significant attention. Brian advised every student to instill values of integrity, perseverance, and social concern during their studies. For him, the college experience is a space for forming a resilient mindset that is essential in the workforce and for making tangible contributions to society.
