Bai’atu Izza (24), a student of the Bachelor of Nursing program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU), has proven that academic busy-ness is no barrier to entrepreneurship. Through her fashion brand, I.W.A Style, she has successfully brought the beauty of Jepara's signature Troso woven fabric to the national market, while also winning a prestigious student-level award.
Izza's business journey began in 2024. With an initial capital of around IDR 3 million to IDR 5 million, which she saved from her previous nail art service business, she ventured into designing ready-to-wear clothing. Optimizing the facilities of her parents' convection business, this creative young woman designs every motif and cut of clothing herself to ensure it looks modern and appeals to the younger generation.
One of the key strengths of I.W.A Style products lies in the choice of raw materials. Izza uses Troso woven fabric made from 100 percent pure cotton fibers, resulting in garments that are soft in texture and comfortable to wear. Her product portfolio is increasingly diverse, ranging from daily wear, skirts, shawls, and scarves to custom uniform orders, with prices varying based on the complexity of the motifs.
The market for her designs has now expanded to other regions, including Semarang, Banyuwangi, and Pandeglang. Despite her busy schedule of hospital internships and thesis preparation, Izza is assisted by four employees to ensure smooth production and timely delivery of goods to customers.
Izza's achievements were further recognized when she won 2nd Place in the Fashion Business Category at the 2026 Studentpreneur Bootcamp organized by the Muhammadiyah Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator (MCEBI). Even though her business continues to grow, Izza remains committed to completing her professional Nurse education and obtaining her Nurse Practice License (SIPP), with a portion of her business profits allocated to purchasing her future medical equipment.
