The agricultural cooperative sector is showing promising performance along with the increasing adoption of high technology and digitalization across the country. As of the end of June 2026, a total of 23,389 agricultural cooperatives were operational, reflecting a substantial increase of 287 units compared to the beginning of the year. This growth is also strengthened by the presence of 102 cooperative unions that play a role in reinforcing the organizational structure at both local and national levels.
Technology integration is the main focus in the modernization of agriculture today. Nearly 2,500 cooperatives have implemented high-tech farming systems and digital transformation to increase productivity. This step has proven effective in improving operational efficiency and expanding market reach. In addition, as many as 4,339 cooperatives are now actively bridging the product distribution chain from farmers directly to consumers, ensuring price stability and commodity quality.
The economic impact of this transformation is reflected in the average revenue of agricultural cooperatives, which reached 2.7 billion VND per year, with a net profit margin of around 450 million VND per year. This success is also driven by business diversification, with around 1,200 cooperatives venturing into agricultural and rural tourism, and 2,169 cooperatives successfully developing flagship products based on OCOP (One Commune One Product).
Community participation in the cooperative system has also reached an impressive figure of 4.15 million members, meeting 98.8% of the national target for 2026. The synergy between technological modernization, integrated supply chain coordination, and business diversification has become the main pillar in strengthening the competitiveness of the agricultural sector amidst modern economic challenges.
