The East Flores Regency Government (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has once again come under sharp criticism regarding the slow handling of the impact of the Mount Lewotobi eruption disaster. One crucial issue that has yet to be fully resolved is the realization of land compensation payments for the access road to the Kuhe Permanent Housing (Huntap) for the evacuees.
The delay in fulfilling the land rights of these residents has sparked fierce criticism against the performance of local government officials. Development policies and post-disaster management are deemed to still often be trapped in ceremonial aspects, without addressing the essence of the real needs of the disaster victims on the ground.
It is feared that these administrative hurdles and payment delays will prolong the period of uncertainty for evacuees who need decent housing. The public in East Flores is now urging the local executive to immediately present concrete solutions to speed up the social and infrastructure recovery process in the affected areas.
