The Serang Regency Government (Pemkab) has officially emphasized that coastal tourist destinations in the Anyer and Cinangka areas remain safe to visit during the school holiday period. This guarantee of safety is provided following the status of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK), which is currently at Alert level or Level III.
This assurance is based on technical data from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), which has set a hazard radius of three kilometers from the center of the eruption. Given that the distance of the Anyer and Cinangka tourist areas reaches about 42 kilometers from the mountain's crater, authorities ensure that volcanic material will not reach the tourist destination areas.
The Vice Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, urged the public not to be influenced by misleading information on social media. His administration emphasized that the video footage depicting a major eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau recently is false information or a hoax. The results of a direct inspection of the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post in Pasauran Village, Cinangka District, proved that the mountain's activity is in a controlled condition.
Echoing the government, the officer of the GAK Observation Post, Deny Mardiono, stated that although tremors are still being detected, intensive monitoring continues to ensure public safety. The very far distance between the eruption point and residential areas as well as tourist areas is the main factor guaranteeing the safety of the Serang coastal area.
