The Tangerang City Government (Pemkot) through the Health Office is now turning school environments into the frontline for implementing the Free Health Check (CKG) program. This strategic initiative is designed to comprehensively monitor the health condition of students while ensuring their growth and development proceed optimally.
Head of the Tangerang City Health Office, dr. Dini Anggraeni, stated that the school-targeted screenings aim to map the dynamics of health issues frequently experienced by school-aged children. Through this approach, health authorities can obtain accurate data regarding the prevalence of specific health disorders among the younger generation.
"Through the CKG program, we map out dominant health issues, such as dental caries, visual impairments, and children's nutritional status. This data serves as a crucial baseline for local community health centers (puskesmas) to determine the necessary medical interventions and educational steps," said dr. Dini on Thursday (9/7/26).
Furthermore, dr. Dini explained that medical findings in the field will be followed up in stages by the relevant health centers. The management includes various methods, ranging from education on clean and healthy living behaviors, more in-depth follow-up examinations, nutritional assistance programs, to providing referrals to higher-level health facilities if necessary.
This program is emphasized not to be a mere ceremonial checkup, but a long-term mitigation effort to ensure children receive interventions as early as possible. By optimizing CKG in both schools and health centers, the Tangerang City Government is committed to minimizing the risk of serious future illnesses for children in the region.
