The Mandalika special economic zone is now enriching its list of facilities supporting a healthy lifestyle for both tourists and local communities. PT InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has officially opened Sade Social Space, an integrated sports center located in the western region of the area, right next to the Bazar Mandalika area.
This facility offers a variety of modern sports infrastructure, including three Padel courts and a representative basketball court. The inauguration of this facility was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Taufik Hidayat, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Enik Ermawati, who had the opportunity to try out the sports facilities firsthand last weekend.
Acting President Director of ITDC, Ahmad Fajar, explained that this step is the company's strategy to transform The Mandalika so that it is not only known for its racing circuit. The presence of Sade Social Space is expected to become a new magnet that drives the development of recreational and competitive sports, while strengthening the area's appeal in the physical activity-based tourism or sport tourism sector.
The development of sports infrastructure on the west side of this area is strategically carried out to integrate accommodation facilities such as hotels and restaurants with new centers of activity. ITDC is committed to continuing to add more types of sports facilities in the future so that tourists have a longer duration of stay due to the many activity options in The Mandalika.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat welcomed the initiative and hoped that in the future there would be sports facilities of a more mass nature, such as badminton courts. The hope is that accessibility to sports facilities can awaken a culture of healthy living for the surrounding community.
Adding to this, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Enik Ermawati emphasized the importance of maintaining inclusivity in The Mandalika area. She asserted that the sports facilities built must be accessible to all levels of society, so that The Mandalika can become a friendly and open destination for all elements, rather than just an exclusive tourist area.
