Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency became the center of attention in health education efforts through a seminar titled “Latest Updates on Cancer Management: Early Detection, Modern Treatment, Better Survival” held at Saromase Hall on Sunday (7/5/2026). This international-scale event was a strategic collaboration between the Sidrap Regency Government, the PKK Mobilization Team, and Kawan Sehat Malaysia.

The event featured two renowned medical experts from Malaysia: Dr. Nur Hafizah Amom, an Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant, and Dr. Ina Shaliny, a Clinical Oncology Consultant. Both presented comprehensive materials on the urgency of early detection, the utilization of cutting-edge medical technology, and strategies to improve life expectancy for cancer survivors.

Public enthusiasm for the event was very high, evidenced by the attendance of more than 500 participants consisting of medical personnel, academics, students, and representatives of women's organizations from various regions such as Parepare City, Pinrang Regency, Enrekang, and Wajo. The high level of participation reflects a growing collective awareness of the importance of preventive health.

Chairperson of the Sidrap Regency PKK Mobilization Team, Hj. Haslindah Syaharuddin, S.Pd., emphasized that this forum was a crucial step to equip the public, especially women, to be more proactive in undergoing regular health check-ups. According to her, understanding early symptoms of cancer is the main key to reducing the disease's rate.

Furthermore, this initiative reinforces the role of the PKK as a strategic partner of the local government in driving public health education. Through this inter-institutional and cross-border synergy, it is hoped that the people of Sidrap will gain better health literacy to achieve a healthier and more prosperous standard of living in the future.
