PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. is strategically strengthening the development of 'AIcosystem', an integrated artificial intelligence ecosystem designed to support domestic technology sovereignty. This step is taken as part of the company's efforts to reduce dependence on global computing platforms, while simultaneously solidifying Telkom's position amidst the industrial digital transformation.
As of the first quarter of 2026, Telkom recorded stable financial performance with consolidated revenue of IDR 37.2 trillion, representing a 1.5% year-on-year (yoy) growth. This growth was driven by the strong performance of the consumer business segment as well as the expansion of digital infrastructure for the corporate segment.
Telkom VP Corporate Communication, Andri Herawan Sasoko, explained that AIcosystem will encompass crucial infrastructure such as AI-ready data centers, cloud computing services, GPU processing, and the development of Indonesian-language Large Language Models (LLM). This infrastructure serves as the backbone for the company to deliver specific and secure industry solutions.
For the retail customer segment, Telkom plans to integrate artificial intelligence into applications such as MyTelkomsel to provide more contextual personalized experiences. The company's main focus is to ensure that AI adoption is not merely a trend, but capable of delivering real benefits and convenience for everyday users.
Nevertheless, Telkom acknowledges that monetizing AI technology presents its own set of challenges. At the enterprise level, the main focus lies on talent readiness, data security, and complex system integration. Meanwhile, on the retail side, the company emphasizes the importance of building customer trust through faster, safer, and more relevant services tailored to their needs.
