As part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Jakarta, the governments of Indonesia and India are reportedly ready to formalize strategic cooperation through the signing of seven to eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs). This agreement covers various crucial sectors, ranging from defense, education, and health to technology development.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the signing is a concrete step by both countries to expand their long-established strategic partnership. The series of state agendas is scheduled to take place at Merdeka Palace on Tuesday (7/7/2026), beginning with an official welcoming ceremony, a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PM Modi, and in-depth discussions between delegations.
PM Modi's visit to Jakarta is a return visit following President Prabowo's visit to India some time ago. The government views this high-level meeting as a crucial momentum to strengthen diplomatic relations while optimizing the potential for collaboration in various areas of mutual interest.
In addition to focusing on state agendas, PM Modi is scheduled to continue his visit until July 8, 2026. One of the agendas drawing attention is a planned visit to Prambanan Temple, which is part of the bilateral cooperation plan to restore the historical cultural heritage site.
