The B50 biodiesel mandatory program recently launched by President Prabowo Subianto's administration is predicted to bring a breath of fresh air to the national palm oil sector. This policy is expected to boost the performance of crude palm oil (CPO) issuers in the capital market, especially for companies that have integrated business ecosystems down to the biodiesel processing line.

Arinda Izzaty, Equity Research Analyst at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, revealed that the strengthening absorption of biofuels in the domestic market will be a key catalyst for the industry. Companies that are not only engaged in upstream plantation but also have downstream capacity up to biodiesel production are considered to be in the most strategic position to capture opportunities from this increasing domestic energy demand.

Furthermore, issuers with strong exposure to the domestic market are projected to record more stable performance. This focus on downstreaming allows companies to minimize dependence on global market price fluctuations and increase profit margins through a more efficient domestic supply chain.

The increase in this mandatory target also reflects the government's commitment to accelerating the national energy transition while strengthening palm oil-based food and energy security. With the implementation of B50, industry players are expected to optimize their production capacity to meet the new standards set by the government.
