PT Sokonindo Automobile has officially commenced local assembly using the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) method for its latest Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) SUV, the DFSK E5 Plus, at its production facility in Cikande, Banten. This strategic move was made in preparation for the eco-friendly vehicle's official launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 in late July.
Although not yet widely marketed, consumer response in the country is reported to be highly positive, with pre-orders already exceeding 1,100 units. In the domestic market, the DFSK E5 Plus is set to challenge the dominance of class rivals such as the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH and Lepas L8 PHEV by offering a combination of competitive pricing and advanced technology.
Cing Hok Rifin, Director of Sales Center at PT Sokonindo Automobile, confirmed that the domestic assembly line is active, with the first ten units successfully produced locally. Regarding the delivery timeline to customers, he explained that the process will largely depend on administrative readiness at the dealership level, both for cash transactions and credit surveys for buyers opting for financing schemes.
As a key selling point, the seven-seater SUV is equipped with a large battery capacity of up to 25.3 kWh, capable of traveling up to 140 kilometers on pure electric power alone. When the fuel tank and battery are fully charged, the vehicle's comprehensive range is claimed to reach 1,400 kilometers, offering a worry-free long-distance mobility solution for its users.
