Indonesia has officially launched a strategic step in strengthening its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry through the opening of the Indonesia Business Event Mart (IBEM) 2026. The country's inaugural business events marketplace is being held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) from July 28 to 31, 2026.
Initiated by E&C Productions together with TTG Events and fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism, IBEM 2026 is designed as an integrative business platform. The event brings together around 200 hosted buyers from 37 countries with 100 local sellers, including tourist destination managers, hotels, convention centers, as well as technology providers and MICE support services.
To maximize meeting productivity, the committee implemented a Pre-Scheduled Appointment (PSA) system. This innovative system allows business operators to arrange business meeting schedules digitally before the event begins, so the business matching process can run more effectively, target-oriented, and efficiently.
The Chairperson of the IBEM 2026 Committee, Christine Besinga, explained that this forum is projected to become a new milestone for the national business tourism ecosystem. She hopes that IBEM can transform into an annual agenda capable of expanding global partnership networks while strengthening Indonesia's bargaining position on the international stage.
The hosting of IBEM 2026 is also synergized with the Southeast Asia Business Events Forum (SEABEF) 2026, taking place from July 28 to 29. The Acting Deputy for Events Management at the Ministry of Tourism, Hafiz Agung Rifai, assessed this cross-sector collaboration as highly strategic to strengthen Indonesia's reputation as a leading MICE destination in the Southeast Asian region.
In addition to business negotiations in the exhibition area, international delegates are also scheduled to participate in a familiarization trip program to Onrust Island and Macan Island in the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu). This promotional program, facilitated by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department, is expected to introduce Jakarta's marine tourism potential, which can be integrated into future MICE travel packages.
