Legislative Body (Baleg) member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Reni Astuti, emphasized that the success of the One Data Indonesia (SDI) Bill depends not only on the ability to integrate data between agencies. According to her, aspects of integrity and the level of trust in the data presented play a crucial role in ensuring the data can serve as a valid policy reference.
This statement was delivered by Reni during a Public Hearing (RDPU) with the Indonesian Blockchain Association and the CEO of Baliola at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. In the discussion, Reni highlighted that having unified data is not enough without being accompanied by guarantees of accuracy and credibility that can be trusted by both the public and the government.
Regarding the use of blockchain technology, Reni acknowledged the huge potential of the system in driving budget efficiency, transparency, and accelerating public services. However, she reminded the government not to be fixated on just one type of technology, considering there are still many other technological alternatives that can be considered in national data governance.
The PKS Faction politician also requested clarity on the scope of blockchain technology implementation in the upcoming SDI Bill. She questioned whether the technology would be applied comprehensively or only in certain service sectors deemed most relevant and requiring high security.
Furthermore, Reni emphasized that the One Data Indonesia Bill will be a vital foundation for the national development strategy. Therefore, the regulation of application technology usage must be carried out carefully so that the norms contained in the law are able to address the challenges of effective and trusted data governance.
