Yogyakarta is preparing once again to host a large-scale sports and art event, Run'nshine 2026. The event, which is a collaboration between the Innovation and Creativity Hub of Universitas Gadjah Mada (GIK UGM), Sirah Travel, KAHGAMA, Sedekat Imaji Rupa, and Myrace, is scheduled to take place over three days, from September 18 to 20, 2026.
Carrying the concept of "Olah Raga dan Olah Rasa" (Nurturing Body and Soul), this event offers a unique experience for runners to enjoy a blend of physical activity and creative expression. Following the success of the 2025 edition, which attracted more than 2,400 participants, organizers are optimistic that this year's event will bring a broader positive impact to the community in Yogyakarta.
MyRace Race Director Roostian Gamananda explained that this year's 5K and 10K running routes are designed based on five main pillars: Campus, Community, Palace (Keraton), Neighborhood (Kampung), and Corporate. This approach was chosen so runners can directly feel the heartbeat of Yogyakarta, from iconic educational areas to authentic residential neighborhoods.
An artistic touch is the main highlight of Run'nshine 2026. Artist duo Tempa has once again been entrusted with designing the exclusive jerseys and medals. This year, the theme "Shine Beats" features contemporary visual representations of statues and jars, symbolizing the city's cultural roots that remain relevant amid modernization.
More than just running, the event series will be enlivened by a music concert featuring the band Barasuara, alongside various lifestyle and culinary expos. In addition, the "Mampir Gelanggang" exhibition, running until October 12, 2026, will serve as a dialogue space between artists, academics, and the public on the importance of balancing physical fitness with artistic sensitivity.
For participants, the organizers are offering various attractive prizes, including Umrah packages and trips to Turkey, as a token of appreciation for their participation. Ticket registration is now open, priced at IDR 250,000 for the 5K category and IDR 290,000 for the 10K category, which includes a comprehensive race pack for runners.
