The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of Jambi Province has designed strategic steps to restore the glory of the region's sporting achievements on the national stage. Amid the budget constraints faced, this sporting institution has chosen the path of active collaboration with members of the press and partnering with the business world through the "foster parent" partnership program to nurture local athletes.
This tactical step was discussed in an informal discussion forum with journalists in Jambi. Led directly by the General Chairman of KONI Jambi, Mat Sanusi, who was accompanied by senior management officials, this meeting served as a forum to unify the vision in guiding the revival of sporting achievements in "Bumi Sepucuk Jambi Sembilan Lurah".
On that occasion, Mat Sanusi highlighted the important role of the mass media in building positive public opinion and igniting the fighting spirit of the athletes. According to him, without consistent publication from fellow journalists, the dynamics and development of Jambi's sporting achievements would find it difficult to gain attention and support from the wider community.
In addition to strengthening partnerships with the media, funding challenges are also being addressed through approaches to the private sector. KONI Jambi is currently exploring cooperation with several major companies operating in the region, such as PetroChina and SKK Migas. Through the "foster parent" scheme, the business world is expected to be willing to fund specific sports disciplines.
Financial support from the industrial sector is deemed to be an important stimulus for the long-term funding of athletes. Through this strategy, KONI Jambi is optimistic that the target of breaking into the top 10 at the upcoming National Sports Week (PON) can be achieved. Currently, preparation focus is directed at the Martial Arts PON in North Sulawesi and the PON Qualification Rounds scheduled to roll out in early 2027.
