Sidoarjo Regency has made history in East Java's sports world. The Sidoarjo Regency Branch Board of the Indonesian Domino Sports Federation (ORADO) successfully held the 2026 ORADO Regency Sports Week (Porkab) on Saturday (July 5, 2026). This event confirms Sidoarjo's position as the first regency in East Java to host an official domino competition under the auspices of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI).

This inaugural event received high praise from the Chairman of the East Java ORADO Provincial Board, Mahenda Abdullah Kamil. He emphasized that dominoes have now transformed from a mere recreational game into a serious competitive sport. The main focus of this Porkab is scouting young athletes to foster competitive regeneration at both provincial and national levels.

A total of 27 teams, dominated by students aged 17 to 19, competed in three categories: men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. The number of participants exceeded the committee's expectations, demonstrating strong interest among the younger generation in a sport that requires strategy and sharp thinking.

Beyond athletic achievement, the hosting of Porkab ORADO 2026 is also seen as having a positive impact on the local creative economy ecosystem. Muh Zakaria Dimas Pratama from the Creative Economy Division of East Java ORADO highlighted that this competition has the potential to boost the MSME sector and creative industries, enabling domino sports to grow into a professional ecosystem while providing economic benefits to the community.

Chairman of the Sidoarjo ORADO Branch Board, Yonathan Toar Sangari, expressed optimism about the future of domino sports in his region. With routine training programs and continuous development across local clubs, he is confident that the Sidoarjo contingent can secure three gold medals at the 2027 East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). The champions of the 2026 Porkab will be given top priority for training toward this prestigious goal.
