TEMBILAHAN – Indragiri Islamic University (UNISI) has established a strategic collaboration with the University of Indonesia (UI) to strengthen maternal and child health services in Indragiri Hilir Regency. This synergy was marked by intensive discussions with a delegation of Professors from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI), who visited Tembilahan for a Community Service program on Sunday (2/8/2026).
This cooperation focuses on the utilization of technological innovation in the form of the Grashof Incubator, which was donated to the Regional Leadership of the Muslimah Sisterhood (PD Salimah) of Indragiri Hilir. This medical device, an innovation by academics, is specifically designed to help handle premature babies and babies with low birth weight (LBW) effectively and efficiently.
This high-level discussion was attended by several UNISI study program chairs, including Khairul Ihwan, M.T. (Civil Engineering), Bayu Fajar, M.M. (Digital Business), Syafrinadina, M.M. (Management), and Asniati Bindas, M.M. (Curriculum Chair). They exchanged ideas directly with Prof. Dr. Ir. Raldi Artono Koestoer, DEA, the innovator of the Grashof Incubator, accompanied by other FTUI expert team members such as Prof. Dr. Ir. Dadang Gunawan, M.Eng., Assoc. Prof. Farizal, Ph.D., Prof. Ir. Purnomo Sidi Priambodo, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Arbi Riantono, S.T., M.T.
The agenda, facilitated by the Chairman of Commission IV of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Indragiri Hilir Regency, Mohammad Wahyudin, S.Pd., also involved various regional stakeholders. Also present were the Head of the Health Office dr. Udin Syafriudin, M.Kes., Director of Puri Husada Tembilahan Regional Hospital dr. H. Firman Nurdiansyah, M.Ked., Sp.THT-KL., M.M., Commissioner of Baznas Inhil Ustadz Subagio, Lc., as well as local youth figure Saipudin Ikhwan, S.I.Kom., M.A.
In addition to strengthening medical services, this cross-sector meeting opens opportunities for wider collaboration among universities, regional governments, hospitals, and community organizations. Prof. Raldi hopes that this academic network established between UNISI and FTUI can continue through various research, service, and technological innovation development programs in the future.
